I'm fairly sure that pets attack on the same system as minions, fairly helter skelter. Targeting for pets would be nice, whether otyughs change or just an AI change.

Otyugh's Cry gives +20 AL to any pets in range. That's its use.

No, it applies to animals.
I'm not sure if that counts pets, since the hostility part obviously doesn't.

Actually no, pets are much pickier. Minions will attack anything in range, and pick their targers more or less randomly. Pets, on the other hand, won't even attack things that attack you, they will only attack what you attack. They're even less independent than henchmen.

Otyugh's Cry - Shout
All animals in the area become hostile to your target and gain +20 armor for 30 seconds. Otyugh's Cry cannot turn charmed animals against their masters or their master's allies. (50% chance of failure with Beast Mastery 4 or less.)
that is its main use..... turning all animals against your target as long as its not charmed by what your attacking..... useless in pvp for the most part but somewhat helpful if you use beast mastery a lot in pve......

Only one thing thats bad about this skill ALL PETS ARE LEVEL 5
That makes them weak however they do create corses making them ideal for getting Bone minions up

What happends if you target an allie and use this skill? Will enemy pets attack that ally? XD
I wonder if this skill could turn the Pre-searing bunny against the Skales...

I wouldn't want my pet running to attack something else just because someone wanted to use the most useless skill.
Pick on bane signet, not my lizard...thankyou.

I believe Guardian is referring to the fact that untamed - wild - animals start at lvl 5. Which means it sucks for turning animals against your enemies in PvE.

Actually, that's not true. If you're getting beaten on (at least by a warrior), and not attacking anything yourself, your pet will start fighting your aggressor. However, if you were already attacking something, then that target would take precendence. The nice thing about this is that if you're not attacking something but your pet is fighting something on you, and then you need it to switch targets, an attack from you will switch the pet's target quickly. To my knowledge it's the only time you can effectively get your pet to switch targets at all.

So just because the description says that's the best part of the skill, that suddenly makes it true? Really, I don't know how anyone can look at Otyugh's Cry and believe that, if you're lucky*, having one level 5 wild creature helping you with a group of approximately level 20 enemies is the main use of the skill. The armor bonus tucked in there is nothing to sneeze at. It's +20 AL and an AoE. I mean, 20 AL is the difference between a caster's armor and a warrior's armor afterall. So whether or not the armor is the intended use, Aerolion is right. The armor is the only real use of for the skill, and in that it works very well.
*the range on Otyugh's Cry makes it nearly impossible to get more than 1 wild animal to join in your fight, and even then requires a lot of luck. You need the level 5 critter and your enemy to be both within aggro range.

I've had 3 level 5 wolves help me before, and it meant that I had 3 level 5 corpses a few seconds later. I suppose you could use it on the UW spider to get it to help you without charming it... but honestly, the animal bit is really wimpy. I've tried it.
20 AL is the difference between caster armour and warrior vs elemental - it's 40 between caster and warrior vs physical;
20 AL however represents a 29.3% damage reduction, so it's pretty useful. It boosts a pet from 80 AL to 100, putting them on par with a fully armoured warrior. I would be nice if it actually was useful for its stated purpose, but it sadly isn't. Animals in the wild are wimpy anyway - with no skills to boost them they don't deliver much damage - I find a level 15 Elder Wolf (found wild in the spearhead area) is less dangerous than a level 8 Charr Axe Fiend.

Yeah Otyugh's Cry is the most useless skill in pve and pvp (my opinion). 'But if it could help target say for pet smiters it would have a use in pvp making it easy to target for those rangers. With a nice pet armor bonus.
